ERB’S PALSY- this refers to weakness or paralysis of some muscles of the upper limb often caused when the neck is distracted from the shoulder or by pulling on baby’s upper limb to assist vagil delivery. The baby usually finds it difficult to.raise the affected upper limb and the limb is held close the body facing down in a typical “Waiters tip” deformity posture.There is often associated pain and sometimes fracture of the Clavicle. Physiotherapy should start immediately the condition is diagnosed to relieve pain, strengthen weak muscles, encourage movement and correct deformity of the affected upper limb.
